D ~~ I scheduled appointments for me, my mother, and my three bridesmaids at the same time. I called several times trying to pin down what the cost would be, since my mother had offered to pay and I wanted to make sure it didn't cost her any more than I told her it would. The first time they gave me a price, but the second time they backpedaled and said they couldn't give me an exact quote. That would have been acceptable since I can understand if it depends, but the problem was that they also couldn't give me a straight story about what it depended on. I got three different answers on three different calls. Finally, the manager assured me that it depended on the actual time spent by the stylist -- not the scheduled time, but the actual time. The next week, I went in for my second hair trial (my first one didn't go well) with a one hour scheduled appointment. The stylist started my appointment 15 minutes late and finished 15 minutes early and still charged me for a full-hour price. I ended up cancelling all of my appointments and my bridesmaids and I did each other's hair. It worked out fine and was a lot less aggravating.

Tabitha is my regular stylist and I trust her completely!!! I couldn’t have been happier with my hair!! My sister, cousin, Mom, and Grandmom also had appts for hair that day. We had 3 other stylists doing hair at the same time so that we wouldn’t take forever! One of the stylists was even available to sneak in my SIL who had just come along to do pictures! I asked if they had time to do her up with a French braid and they did her hair too…..without an extra appointment! Very happy with service and cost!!

A+ ~~ The banquet hall was gorgeous and is perfectly suited for about 100 guests, although I've seen it set up for as many as 180. The fees include complete setup and cleanup. You just take in the decorations you want to use and tell them what you want and they'll set it all up for you, which was a real relief for me. Linda was incredibly easy to work with and very accommodating. Her emails always seemed a little abrupt but that's just the way she writes emails -- in person she's very nice and as sweet as she can be. Very highly recommended!

I loved this place so much that I actually booked another appointment for the day before I left for the honeymoon to get my hair all chopped off. A ~~ Summer came to our room at the Hyatt to get the girls and I ready, and she rocked! She showed up at 6am since we had to be ready for pictures by 9. She brought her mom with her, and they were both so much fun. She uses Bare Minerals makeup, which I had never used (except at my trial with her) and it stayed in place all day. As did my hair, which looked fabulous, if I do say so myself. Her prices were very reasonable.

A+ ~~ She did a great job on my hair and makeup at the trial, as well as the wedding day. She was there on time and had her mom there assisting her. She did 2 of my bridesmaids' hair as well, and one of them liked it and one didn't. I thought they looked beautiful though!

A ~~ Summer did a great job with the makeup for the wedding party. My only complaint was that she took so much time on the first three of five people that we were starting to get nervous that we wouldn't be out to the church when we wanted to. Either way, she got them all done and everyone looked great.

Summer is fantastic. Affordable, fun and very good at what she does. Hair and makeup was not something I was going to work into the budget, but when I found out how affordable it was to have Summer come to us...I couldn't resist. My hair and makeup was better than I could have imagined. I really had no idea what I wanted to do with my hair or makeup, but when I went for my trial, Summer looked at a picture of my dress, we talked about the feel I was going for...and she did hair and makeup that I loved. A month later, I decided that I wanted something more dramatic. I went back for another trial and this time it was perfect. She duplicated it on the wedding day and I couldn't have been happier. She did hair and makeup for me, three bridesmaids and both moms...as well as hair for two flowergirls and a junior bridesmaid. We had a fun day with Summer and her mom (who works as her assistant). Book her...you won't regret it!!!

A- ~~ I absolutely loved Summer! My hair and makeup turned out awesome! Her mother and her were absolutely great and everyone was super happy with their hair and make-up! The only reason she has an A- instead of an A+ is because we had to start at 7:30 am even though the wedding wasn’t till 6 pm! She had thought my wedding was in the early afternoon and scheduled a second wedding that she had to leave by noon to get to. I wasn’t too happy about starting so early, but it ended up not being that bad...after we got our make up done, we ordered room service for lunch, sat around for a little bit, then got dressed for pictures! So, in the end it was okay, but it was still really early!

B ~~ Euphoria Salon and day spa. Not a lot of choice in the Berg for hair and makeup. This was the only salon that did both. The ambiance was nice, very zen, and they gave me cheese, crackers and mimosas. Now for what I was unhappy with. I booked my makeup with their estitician, Judy. About 4 weeks prior to my wedding I had the trial for hair and makeup. Hair trial goes great, but when I mention makeup they say "oh judy is in Ecudor, so no makeup today" I show up on Friday before the wedding for my makeup trial. and I am in the waiting room and this girl I've never met comes to get me, she sits me in a chair and starts my makeup. I ask her if she is judy and she says no. She is a hairstylist there, who does makeup sometimes.

The thing about it was, all the time before the wedding I kept hearing how awesome Judy was, how she did makeup in Vegas for years and how I should want her to do my makeup. Then they dont' even call me to tell me they've changed my makeup person? I don't really need that kind of stress on my wedding day.

I loved my hair when it was done, but it started to fall out right before our first dance, and then fell totally out shortly after that. It just wasn't very sturdy and I wish it would have stayed better. I would to go them again though, because they were good, I was happy with how everything turned out.

A ~~ I love Kelley and she deserves extra points for doing both mine and mothchick's makeup on the same day. She came to my apartment that morning and worked quickly (we had already done a trial and determined colors, etc.). My makeup looked great and lasted all day (I had it done at 9:30 a.m. and the wedding was at 4 p.m.). She's super duper nice and her prices are hard to beat...she's great!

A ~~ Kelley was super nice! She was a rec from fellow k***tie erin080406. We had planned to have makeup done at Mario Tricoci but since they charge for it now, we decided to try someone else. It really was a good decision. Kelley made sure my makeup was perfect, and she is VERY affordable. After the first trial I decided the makeup was too oily for my skin and I said I would just bring my own foundation. Kelley said we could do another trial to try something else. She went out and bought new makeup for me and it was perfect. She even left a little of the lip gloss/lip stick for me and my girls at the church. Love her! Page me for her contact info.

A+ ~~ CaraSue was by far one of my favorite vendors. I wasn't very specific with my makeup and wasn't 100% sure what I wanted anyway but I just told her how I normally wear my makeup and how dramatic I did/didn't want to go and she nailed it perfectly at my trial. She did my bridesmaids makeup also and neither of them typically wear makeup at all so they were a little nervous but CaraSue did a great job and they loved it. She even did makeup for one of my flowergirl's which wasn't initially in the plan. She is so friendly and fun and very easy to talk to. She made me feel so comfortable at my trial and I couldn't wait to have her do my makeup again the day of the wedding. I would recommend her 100 times over

2007 Cost -- $35 for BM/moms and $50 for me A+ ~~ I loved working with CaraSue. She was really attentive and thought of everything -- even brought straws so us girls could drink our champagne and not mess up our lipstick. She also gave each girl a pot of lip color and gloss to refresh throughout the day. I wasn't 100 percent happy with my trial, but she was able to re-assess and make me 110 percent happy on the spot. She was all-smiles and dealt with our suggestions with grace.

C ~~ I made this appointment last minute so that probably had a lot to do with the problems I had. That being said, I was scheduled to work with the owner, Mark. They told me to come in Wednesday at 12:30 to talk with him about what I wanted and possibly having someone do my makeup. They called me back the same day and wanted to change my appointment to 4:30. It wasn't a big deal, but I was running late and when I called at 4:45 they said that Mark had been gone for some time and would it be possible to change my hair appointment for Thursday from 11:00 to 3:30 (wedding started at 5). I told them no and they seemed a little put out. I got there Thursday and someone different did my hair while "training" a new stylist. My hair turned out great and looked good all night, but it really wasn't worth all the hassle.

A+++ ~~ He came to us, all the way to Paola, with laryngitis. He worked in cramped quarters (we had about 13 girls in my room) and he did a fabulous job in a short amount of time. I thought all of my BMs looked amazing (of course they were beautiful before). He did an awesome job on my hair and I was very happy with it. I seen all my BM the next morning and their hair still looked exactly the same! How's that for "Hold"!!

Laura ~~ A ~~ I was very pleased with both my hair and make-up on the wedding day. Laura did them both and really did a great job at creating the look I wanted. My hair stayed in place all day and even held the curl. My only complaint is that the lip color/gloss was not the best. It looked good initially but faded fast and upon reapplication looked kinda gloppy. I blame that on the Aveda products, not Laura though. The bridesmaids also go their hair done at Lada and the updos were fantastic. Both of my girls said they loved them and they stayed in place pretty well, a few wispys but bobby pins fixed that.

A+ for my hair, A- for everyone else! ~~ I absolutely loved Teresa!! Unfortunately, I think she is moving in a few weeks. She did everything I asked for and more with my hair!! I was so nervous about having someone turn my hair into a prom type disaster, but she was great. The other stylists who did the bridesmaids hair and the flower girls were decent- but I had to watch over them and tell them to change this or that occassionally as they started heading in the 'prom' direction. Overall, high rating though! Would recommend them! Also- we reserved the bridal room and it was absolutely adorable!!

A ~~ I was a little bit nervous after seeing Tararae's photo in her bio of her bad experience. However, Virginia did a beautiful job on all of the bridesmaids, moms, and grandmas. She also did my eyes (I did everything else)and did a good job, once I was able to convey exactly what I wanted!! I would recommend her, just have a trial first and be specific about the look you are going for!

We switched ladies though for the real wedding day!People said that my hair looked like the red carpet and our makeup was all wonderful too. I would recommend Gerene for hair and Scarlett or Roxanne for makeup. They also had a couple food trays in a private room waiting for us!

A+ ~~ After an awful first trial at a salon I had never been to, I decided to book Mario because my Sister used them for her wedding. We booked the mini café room in the spa so we could have some lunch before we all got “made up” and ordered in Tom Fooleries. It was nice to sit and chat before we all went our separate ways with our different stylist. All six bridesmaids and both Moms got hair and make-up done. I had my hair done by Lori, and although I forgot my picture and the style morphed into something other than the trial, it ended up being gorgeous. My make-up was done by Sylvia who is an absolute pro. You just have to make sure you tell her to change colors you don’t care for, go lighter or heavier, and lead her in the right direction, because she is used to doing showy make-up for magazine covers and spreads. I think my make-up looked very pretty. When I saw all my girls though and the Moms, my God, I nearly fainted. They all looked like they were getting ready to go to the Oscars! Their hairstyles were amazing (no frilly prom styles). They were even more beautiful than they already are. On a side note, they are no longer doing the complimentary make-up if you get your hair done. We were one of the last bridal parties to get that deal. Bummer for other brides, but I still think it’s really worth it. Oh, I had my highlights done by Stephanie there a week before the wedding and I got so many compliments on how good it looked.

A ~~ K***tie mrs.molly* had her hair done with Laurie and it was very close to what I was looking for. I took a few pictures in and she gave me just what I wanted. And it was in my price range as well, which I was very happy about. My sister had her hair done by Star. It was a simple French twist with a little curl at the top and Star charged her $85. Waaaaaayyyy overpriced! My hair took twice as long as my sisters and it was $20 cheaper. All the stylists charge whatever they want so be sure to ask them before they get started on your style.

A/F ~~ I know that's a weird grade, but let me explain. I had my make-up trial with the owner, Katie, and my hair trial with Breanna. I was very happy with both of them. Katie had scheduled me for an extra make-up artist plus the 2 of them. The day of the wedding, the extra make-up artist (Jodene?) arrived nice and early at the hotel and started working on the bms. Brea arrived shortly after. An hour went by and my make-up artist, Kate, still hadn't arrived. Jodene tried calling her several times and she didn't answer. Katie eventually called back and said she was stuck in traffic but almost there. Then it got to the point were everyone had their make up done but me, so I just asked Jodene to do it. About this time Katie called back and said she was in a car accident and couldn't make it. So A for Jodene and Brea, but F for Katie. But it all worked out ok. Thank god for Jodene. She was fabulous and I loved my make up. Brea was awesome also. She made each of my bms hair look original and classy.

A ~~ Beth did such an amazing job on our hair! I got so many compliments on my hair day of and when people have seen our pictures. Also, she was able to whip something up on the fly for two of my bridesmaids who didn't bring in pictures or even know what they wanted done. Not to mention she is super pregnant and fought through Braxton Hicks contractions to get us done on time! Katie did a great job on the make up as well. I'm just super particular so I added a little blush and little more eye shadow b/c I was too chicken to ask her to do it- so that's my fault. They were 15 minutes late, but made up for the time quickly and we had ton of fun with them.

A+ ~~ Don't really know what to say except for she was absolutely AMAZING!!!! I got TONS of compliments on hair!!! My hair isn't exremely short, but too short for the updo that I wanted - so Mia brought some hair pieces and added them and my hair looked fantastic - better than I imagined or ever expected! She is extremely sweet! She did a great job on my sister's hair too! My sister has a TON of hair, she spent over an hour curling every last strand - it turned out great! She was on time and finished in good time considering all she did. When she showed up to the site, there were all kinds of problems going on and she even offered to help me set things up and get things ready! My hair was the highlight of my day :-) She's extremely affordable and the hair pieces she brought with her were great quality and very affordable!

We also ordered in Planet Sub for delivery - we kinda took over the place for a few hours! I have referred some other RBs over to them- great for having several people done at once. We had me, 4 BMs, my mom and our flower girl. We were there from 10:30 til 1:30 basically. The receptonist, Rachel, did a great job organizing everyone's appointments and communicating the schedule with me.

A+ ~~ Stacia did an awesome job on my hair for the wedding. I didn’t really know exactly what I wanted, just something that was not “prom,” and that was fairly simple and elegant. I usually hate wearing my hair up, but I loved my hair for the wedding. She also made me feel so at ease and relaxed that morning. All 7 of my bm’s got their hair done at Oliver’s on the morning of the wedding and they were all very happy with their hair.

A+ ~~ Apple was not my original hair stylist but she works at the same salon as my friend who was supposed to do my hair (my friend ended up having a conflict and made the appointment with Apple the week of the wedding as her gift to me). I went to the salon which was OK because it's on the way to the church. She did an incredible updo in less than an hour without having done a trial before and I loved it! It looked just like the picture I brought. She was great!

2008 Cost -- $45 an updo
A- ~~ Tara did my hair and Claudia did my nails, and it was great! She also did my sister's hair and cut her bangs on the spot. They get a A- because there was some scheduling issues. Tara had scheduled all of my appointments for 30-minute blocks because she knew what I wanted. I confirmed the appointments several time. When I confirmed it in person when I was getting a manicure the day before, suddenly they were now 60-minute appointments, which totally backed into our makeup time. Luckily, it did only take 30 minutes per girl, but I was a bit annoyed.

A+ ~~ JoNell has been doing my hair for at least 7 yrs. So, when it was time to book a hair stylist I knew exactly whom to call! She did my MoH and myself, everything was better then the pictures I had given her! I knew I would need another stylist to get everyone done and ready to go. I told JoNell since she was the owner and the only one I trust she needed to book me another stylist. She got me Tamra a.k.a. "The up-do queen". She was amazing; one of my BM’s has some ridiculous hair! It’s well past her shoulder blades and pretty thick. Her hair was up almost identical to the other girls (a little different in the back, but not very noticeable) and never moved!

A+ ~~ I found Jenny from k***tie laneymo. The shop is located in Lee's Summit close to the downtown area on 3rd street. She did a really good job on my trial. I brought pictures of what I had in mind, but she played around a bit to show me some different options. I was ecstatic to find her b/c my first trial at Beauty Brands was a disaster. My wedding was the weekend of her birthday so she had taken off, but she came in just for me that day. I loved my hair! It was exactly what I wanted and held very well for the humidity that day and my sweating! If I lived in KC I'd start going to her on a regular basis.

I got it done at 10 am, drove to the mall, then drove to LS, and at 5pm, my hair hadn't budged. I was very pleased. The other girls that work at the salon did my BM's hair and they all did fabulous jobs on them too! I Love that Salon!

A ~~ All of the girls loved their hairdos. Rachelle spent close to 2 hours at my trial trying to get it to be what I wanted. I took in pictures that were close to what I wanted for the front and back and explained what I liked and what I wanted to change and Rachelle was able to give me the look I wanted. My hair staid up all night and I never felt like it was going to fall down, even after I took off the veil.

B+ ~~ We all liked our looks, but had to continue applying powder throughout the day and night to keep from getting shiny. Laney worked with me to find the perfect shade of lipstick, I was super picky. I wanted a rose color that wasn't pink and wasn't red and she found it and bought me a tube of my own! The only reason I'm giving Laney a B+ instead of an A+ is that she used a new product on my eyes to keep the eye makeup in place that she didn't use during my trials and that new product reacted with the glue for the false eyelashes and so we seriously spent 45 minutes trying to get them to stay on. By the time she would get done with the second eye the first one was already starting to come off. Thankfully the eyelashes lasted till well into the reception and then when they finally fell off my bridesmaid was able to fix my eye makeup. For those that care, Laney primarily uses MAC products.

Hair ~ Rachelle

A ~~ I've been going to Rachelle Spears for my hair for over 5 years now. She has never failed me in any of my colorings or hair cuts. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted done with my hair but Rachelle was very helpful in helping me figure out what it was I wanted. My biggest issue with my hair was I wanted it to hold from 9:00am when I got it done until the reception was done at 11:30pm, and it did. I loved my hair and highly recommend Rachelle.

Makeup ~ Laney

B- ~~ I hired Laney because she works with Rachelle. I had my trial with her and everything tuned out ok. On the day of she did a good job, but didn't use enough eyeliner or mascara so before we started pictures I had to put more on. Also, she charges way too much for her services plus a travel fee and I ended up paying her more than I did for my hair. I guess her rates went up from the time I initially booked her but I didn't make a fuss about having to pay more and I probably should have.
